Yoga and meditation have become much more mainstream and it is beautiful to see people connecting more and more with it, I have discovered that the shift that happens when you dedicate yourself to these activities is so much more than a workout and silence. The transformation that I have witnessed within myself is noticeable on a cellular level. I can feel my energy and vibrance growing and glowing, I feel so much more at peace with events happening around me and I am now able to navigate negativity so much more calmly than before. The mental health benefits are phenomenal and I am beyond grateful to have found this tool to help me grow.

My third surprise blog post is all about my friend Katie Jolicoeur who is such a beautiful soul both inside and out! Its so crazy to think back to when we first met and although we connected in elementary school we discovered that we had first met back in the day at our local rodeo where I sang the national anthem for years and Katie was a barrel racer (you can hear us discussing all of this in the podcast episode we recorded and released via Dream Catcher Pod). She’s incredibly talented and shines her light to those around her who need it the most. I am so inspired by her genuine honesty and am grateful to have her in my life as inspiration for my journey. Watching Katies growth through her yoga and meditation journey has kept me channeling my own growth. Before my loss through ectopic, I had been in a relationship that was very mentally and emotionally abusive. I haven’t opened up much about that part of my life yet but that day will come soon. I remember being in a very negative and trapped mindset during that time of my life and it was right around the time that Katie launched Be Free Yoga. Seeing her posts through social media always gave me light and hope and even through that situation I was able to gather the strength to leave and the meditation helped me to heal. Years later I went through my ectopic scare and once again I found myself leaning on the inspiration from Katies posts to look within for more healing. I can definitely say that I would not be the same person standing here today if not for the care that I was inspired to take on my mental health. I can now look back and with a grain of salt show appreciation for those situations that made me search for deeper level of self love and caring.

I am so grateful for Katie’s support and often think back to my hometown album release show where Katie had donated a dollar amount to be a sponsor for the show through her company BE FREE YOGA and now fast forward to my latest single for “Haven’t We All Been” where Katie came with me on set to film the music video and helped to guide me through the meditation scene. She also brought along her camera and took the most gorgeous behind the scenes pictures and captured all the emotion. Photography is another beautiful journey that Katie has embarked on and she is incredibly talented with that as well. She is such a special soul and I can’t wait for everyone to be inspired to join the self love journey by the music video coming out tomorrow!

Haven’t We All Been – Self Love Series Kailee

As I started learning more about yoga, meditation and all the knowledge that comes with it I dove into the concept of chakras within the body. For those who don’t know, chakras are spinning wheels of energy in the body that hold different meaning and when blocked can cause health issues. There are seven main chakras that run up the spine that each hold unique characteristics and are based on the colors of the rainbow for visuals. I have absolutely LOVED learning about chakras and my new found knowledge has helped me to heal tremendously!

For the second surprise blog post I am so excited to tell you guys all about my beautiful friend Kailee! We became instagram friends first and have encouraged each other on from afar for just over a year now. I’m pretty sure we got in touch through Thelma’s instagram page after me seeing how much these two beautiful ladies work their magic together. There is something amazing about Kailee’s energy. You can just sense her peace and love without even knowing her! I say that from experience. Being inspired by her light has lead me on such a peaceful journey within myself and I am so grateful our paths have crossed. In the spring I was feeling a strong push to learn more about the chakras and I put out to the Universe that I would love to take an online course. I went to bed that night with my little prayer being put out there and the next morning while checking my instagram I saw that Kailee aka Om Ever After was hosting an online course for women on healing chakras (Ask and you shall receive!) I reached out to her and just as fate would have it Kailee had left her course up for one more spot to be filled and I just happened to get it in the nick of time. It was a seven week course that took us on a journey of healing our chakras one by one. It was so amazing to learn and be connected and supported by a group of women who were on the same path as me. I decided to purchase the VIP package which included a healing session by Kailee and also a card reading. In the healing session she was able to connect with one of my spirit angels and I was absolutely blown away by her connection with all things spiritual. The card reading also gave me a sense of peace for my new journey of road tripping across the States to plant my roots more firmly back home in Alberta. Since then I have been able to meet Kailee in person and feel in energy in full force! She is such a beautiful soul who was definitely put here to help heal the world one heart at a time. I am so grateful that Kailee and Thelma brought me on board to help host the Full Moon ceremony in August and it has opened up a new world for me in using my music for healing as well.

Kailee’s guidance has helped so much in healing my sacral chakra where my trauma occurred with my ectopic and through that has brought out so much more of my creativity – its wild but the sacral chakra is the place where our creativity is birthed from! This is a major role in me being able to connect to my heart with filming my music video for “Haven’t We All Been”. I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be in this positive mind frame of healing without her guidance. I brought some of my crystals to be on set with me while I filmed the video and a crystal that Kailee gifted me for the chakra course was one of them!

Haven’t We All Been – Self Love Series Thelma

Self Love and Self Care used to be a very interesting thing for me. In the past I never actually gave it my full attention and was in the mind frame that you need to “work work work” to see results in your life. To take a night off and have a bubble bath meant that I just spent an hour not grinding into my work. It wasn’t truly until about three and a half years ago when I went through my crazy medical scare and hurt through my ectopic pregnancy that I realized I needed to slow down and allow my body to heal. I think the whole ordeal was my wake up call that I needed to take better care of myself. For the first time in my life I talked to my body and gave her words of encouragement. I selflessly allowed her to gain weight where she needed – especially around my midsection where I knew my body felt I needed extra cushioning to heal the trauma in my uterus. I finally saw my body as my vessel and separate from my mind and gave her the space to do what she needed to do. I also realized that my mental state was going to play a huge role in healing and that is where I started leaning was more into yoga, meditation and surrounding myself with uplifting friends who love me no matter what.

I’m excited that you have been on this journey with me so far. Thank you for loving me as I am and allowing me the space to talk open and freely about my journey as I know my story is here to help inspire some of you get through hard times in your lives as well.

This is the start of a three part blog series to offer you some helpful tools in being at peace with yourself. Some amazing people in my life from my hometown that have offered me support and fueled my path in beautiful ways.

The first friend I would love to boast about is Thelma from Goodland Farms and Resana Healing located just outside of my hometown of Stony Plain Alberta. I reached out to Thelma just over a year ago in hopes to use her beautiful farm as a location for a photoshoot. She instantly said yes and opened up her healing dome as a spot for me to use. The photoshoot that I had planned (with the incredibly talented Bethany Loates) was all about female empowerment where I had collected records from some of the most powerful women in music including Reba McEntire, Pat Benitar, Dolly Parton and of course miss Stevie Nicks. In some of the photos I was able to embrace my view on Devine feminine strength. This moment and connection with Thelma has lead to a beautiful friendship where I have been able to visit her beautiful garden where we pull oracle cards, sip tea and I was invited to lead a part of a full moon circle with Thelma and our beautiful friend Kailee Smith (more on Kailee tomorrow!). Through this friendship I have grown so much and been inspired to continue on my spiritual and healing journey.

Thelma is an incredibly talented soul who’s work includes floral arrangements and earth medicine. I was so blessed to be able to harvest flowers from her farm for my music video for “Haven’t We All Been”. Keep an eye out in the video for her beautiful florals to make an appearance and I feel so blessed that the positive energy of Goodland Farms will sparkle on in the video forever!

My Fam Jam

I had to save the best for last y’all! My Fam Jam, the original fab five and my Dream Team since day one. I am so incredibly grateful for my families love and support in everything I do. I would not be half the woman I am today without them by my side. Of course every family has their ups and downs but what makes us work is the fact that we all know we bring something different to the table and we get to lift each other up in support of what we all love!

My dad has lived out his dream of working at the coal mine, raising and protecting a family of three girls and now gets to add on to my parents dream yard while he’s “Fun-employed” aka retired! I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love Buck and its actually funny to have people message me on social media asking how he’s doing and if they can come hang out with him haha I get my whit and sense of humor from him and he’s the one who taught me how to two step.

My mom Sheila is known for her genuine love! Just ask anyone who has ever stepped foot on our property for a high school party, FRAM JAM or just a drive by visit she is always there to great guests with a hug and probably a homemade pizza as well. My mom holds a passionate internal fire and is where I get my strength. I wouldn’t be able to do what I love without her help along the way and she is the main set of hands helping me host all of my Mandy concerts and shows throughout the years.

My sister Angeleena, the Taurus bull, the one who will not take no for an answer, most definitely the one who has helped me be fashionable and my only chance for abs. She is so hard working and passionate that she lights a fire in everyone that she crosses paths with. Her mind has challenged me to raise my bar higher and taught me to never give up on myself. She is a world traveller, holds a certificate in holistic nutrition and now the most beautiful wife and mother. I am so excited to be an auntie and so look forward to our upcoming adventures as I know they’re just going to get better and better!

Karli Ann, Karli Ann, Karli Ann. The littlest, tallest McMillan, my mini soulmate and the pep in all our steps. She is the brains of the bunch and has accomplished everything she has set her mind to! I mean she’s a facial reconstructive surgeons assistant y’all. Karli holds the torch of natural beauty and makes you literally feel her laugh in your soul. She is an animal lover and the key to how we rescued my little Lucy Goose. I am so so so excited for her to become a mom in just under a month now and know that her and her husband will be the cutest little parents to their bundle of love!

Due to both my sisters great taste in men I now have the most amazing brother inlaws that a girl could ask for! Angeleena’s husband Ryan has been living out his dream of playing professional hockey all his life and its been so great to be able to connect with someone in the family who has lived away from home most of his life in pursuit of what he loves. He is quirky, fun, wildly motivated (which he gets from his beautiful parents) and plays a pretty mean air guitar haha

Matt, Karlis husband, is such an amazing soul! He has worked so hard over the years to pursue his ultimate passion of helping people which leads to no surprise that he is a firefighter and personal trainer. Anyone who meets this 6’4’’ gentle giant knows that he is full of love and such a drive for life! I am so grateful for Matt and his amazing family who have become part of our own.

All in all I am just so blessed! I get to pursue what I love which is music and inspiring those around me while being surrounded by those I love the most. Its no brainer that the universe insisted that I head north to spend some much needed quality time with my family this summer and I can’t wait for all the epic memories we are bound to make

This beautiful, stunning, artistic soul aka The Kindred Wolf. I am always in complete awe of her beauty and radiance. I feel so blessed to have met Mackenzie at an epic 40th Birthday celebration for a mutual friend that I happened to be performing at. A little birdie told me that there was a singer in the audience and they would love to get her up to perform. This gorgeous girl got up and played a few songs for us and blew us all away! I knew we would be amazing friends from the beginning and it’s been so incredible to watch her dive into all things creative. She not only sings and plays guitar and writes but she’s a stunning photographer, designs amazing sets for her shoots, gardens and is just overall a great soul. I am so excited to be able to connect with Mackenzie more now that I am up in Alberta and have a feeling that there will be a few creative collaborative projects coming up soon!

This girl is a complete rockstar in both her personal life and within the music industry and I feel so blessed to be connected with her and so grateful for her support and encouragement! Sarah is the true definition of a Dream Catcher with hosting a fabulous Drive Home Show on Sun Country 99.7FM, “Made in Alberta” on 104.5 MORE Country and also starting up her podcast “Studio B”. Everything this girl does is filled with inspiration and she does an incredible job highlighting up and coming artists from all across Canada. I know for a fact that I speak for a lot of independent artist when I say that we wouldn’t be able to do it without her! I am so excited to hear that Sarah has been nominated for CCMA Industry Person of the Year!! If you’re a member of the association I highly suggest heading over to their site and cast a little vote for our girl I’m so stoked to be back in Alberta for a bit and for the chance to connect with her more while I’m here. I’m sure when we do there will be lots of music jamming, food tasting and workouts in store haha

The day to my night, the gasoline to my fire and the Veronica to my Betty. I had to save this blog post towards the end of my 30 days of Dream Catchers because I knew I would cry writing this. This girl is my besty and the rock that has kept me going for the past 13 years! Dalyce is so full of strength and has lifted me up so many times throughout my life that I owe a lot of my determination and success to her willingness to not give up on me and my dreams. We have actually had a long distance best friendship for the majority of time and it feels so amazing to finally be spending some much needed time back in Alberta so we can stir up shenanigans again. Over this time, I have watched her grow and blossom into the most beautiful wife, mother and soul I know and cheered her on as she has pursued her dream of being an ER nurse and helping those in need. Her boys have been the greatest gift and I have had the honor of being called “auntie Mandy” for the past three years! The memories made have been far beyond any adventure I could hope for and it’s an unreal feeling knowing that someone has my back unconditionally. I cannot wait to see what this next chapter of Alberta holds for us and I am dying to give her and the boys a hug as soon as possible!

CK Bootsy, the wild half of the Dream Catcher Pod heart, a firecracker and the girl who has helped to bring out my fun side these past few years! I met Carli about 4 years ago in Nashville and after being acquaintances for a few of those years I asked her to come on board the Mandy team to help me out with some projects for my music. Since then we have had many road trips around the states including to Loveland Ohio, Atlanta Georgia, Chattanooga Tennessee and our most recent Dream Catcher Adventure across the states to Denver Colorado then up to the beautiful Bozeman Montana. I know for a fact that my journey would not look the same without this girl by my side! She is the ultimate cheerleader in any project that she is a part of and it’s been so amazing to watch her blossom into such an amazing part of the music industry. I am so incredibly grateful for her hard work and dedication to our podcast and know without a doubt I couldn’t do it without her. I am so blessed to call this girl one of my best friends and am so so so looking forward to seeing where our DC Adventure takes us next!!

This beautiful unicorn fairy is an absolute blessing in everyone’s life that she comes in contact with! Her uplifting energy is so radiant and genuine that she makes everyone around her smile. O’Neal and I met through me winning an Instagram giveaway (I mentioned it in a previous blog) with RocknBoho. Her portion of the giveaway was for her to design a custom jacket full of sparkles, fringe and all things stunning! From the beginning stages of us being connected I felt like this girl was about to turn me into the rockstar I always dreamt of being. When I went to her place to pick it up, and our first time meeting in person, it felt like we had known each other forever not to mention that the jacket completely blew my expectations away and is absolutely perfect and is the star of my music video for Dream Catcher! We’ve had the honor of interviewing O’Neal on our Dream Catcher podcast where she talked all things vibrant about her business Strange Ranger and her venture into mobile spray tans with her company The Bronzery Nashville. This girl is so inspirational and I am beyond excited to connect with her when I’m back down in Nashville for a trip soon! There needs to be a girls day full of spray tans, sparkles, hair wraps and of course all the classic rock music our little hearts can handle

Kailee Smith! A beautiful soul that I have had the honor of meeting via Instagram through mutual friends in our home town. And I am anxiously awaiting to meet her in person soon! Her energy and ability to love those around her is so vibrant and I was immediately drawn to her healing course “A Journey to Healing” through Om Ever After. It was actually a complete blessing to be a part of it. I had felt for a while that I needed a healing course, something that incorporated the chakras, and one night before bed I prayed for a sign. The next morning I opened up my instagram to see that Kailee was hosting a course so I signed up. Crazy thing is that she was supposed to take the link down the night before I felt for some reason she should leave it up and thus I was able to sneak in! It was an amazing journey that involved so much healing and has brought me so much peace regarding my future plans and goals and I learned so much about the chakras, it’s crazy! Kailee offers so many amazing healing tools through her courses and goddess circles and I am beyond excited to take in as much and as many as possible while I’m back home for the summer. I feel like this is just the beginning of a beautiful friendship and can’t wait to see where our combined love for all things spiritual and healing takes it

Okkkk This groovy chica has been such a blessing in my life! Giving, fun loving, creative and a million other fun things describe who Michelle is as a soul. Our paths crossed when I won an Instagram giveaway for a beautiful custom jacket and a gift certificate to her boutique RocknBoho Clothing and we have been friends ever since. I am so inspired by Michelle and her love for all things beautiful and retro! On her latest project she renovated a school bus into a beautiful travelling boutique that represents her company so well. Her bus’s name is Shirley and is the coolest boutique you will step foot in I am so incredibly grateful for all the love and encouragement that comes from Michelle and have been so blessed to showcase her clothing for my Dream Catcher music video, our Dream Catcher Podcast photoshoot and I’ve also been modeling some of her stunning pieces on social media. I cannot wait to see where this new boutique adventure takes Michelle and look forward to celebrating with her at an epic festival where she’ll be showcasing all her epic pieces!

I met Molli almost six years ago when we were both cast to perform with Kenny Chesney at the 2014 CMA Awards. She is such a beautiful light and we connected instantly! It has been such an incredible experience to watch her grow over all these years and to see how she is spreading her positivity to everyone around her. Molli is an incredible dancer and after years of performing in New York she decided to return to her roots in Nashville and since then has worked on so many amazing projects like music videos, choreographed dance videos and if you’ve ever watched the CMA Awards in the past couple years you’ll recognize her as one of the beautiful stage ladies that assist the artists in walking to and from the front of the stage.. Sooo much fun!! I am so blessed to call this girl a friend and be able to be inspired by her beautiful smile and kind heart. Although we haven’t seen each other in person in quite some time, she still exudes so much light through her instagram and I am so grateful to still be able to be connected

It’s so crazy how the Universe will place people in your life at specific times for specific reasons. That’s how it was meeting and becoming friends with Todde. We initially met 3 years ago randomly and added each other on Instagram where we mildly kept up with each others lives. Fast forward and I am so so grateful that he decided to reach out last fall where we decided to connect over lattes in Nashville. That conversation changed my life where we talked all things music, culture, spirituality and about our ancestors. It was that conversation that lead me to open up my family tree where I learned some pretty amazing facts. Todde is a phenomenal musician and has been on the road as a main member of an incredible Christian artist. He has traveled the world, has made friends from all walks of life and continues to inspire everyone on a daily basis. We’ve had some amazing conversations over ramen (which he introduced me to) and I am so excited to see where his journey takes him next. He is a true Dream Catcher and his journey continues to grow and blossom in magical ways!

Becoming friends with this beautiful human was like sending out a little prayer and having it answered by the angels. Lianne has the most amazing intuition and had reached out to me in perfect timing just when I needed some guidance towards some soul searching. We had initially been introduced via social media when a year before she had interviewed me for her podcast The Country Music Show for my song Chasin’ the Ace. From the very beginning she has been such an amazing support and I’m so incredibly grateful for what had become an amazing friendship. Lianne is so talented in many facets including music, songwriting and everything spiritual. She is such a beautiful spirit and we’ve had many texting turned phone call conversations that have lasted for hours. I am truly blessed to have her friendship and support in my life and am so looking forward to watching her grow with her venture “Channel Your Light” where she offers intuitive guidance to those around her!

Darby Day

Loft Parties, New Moon Nights, Yoga, Meditations, Galaxy Expos, Card Readings and lots and lots of veggie food. That is just the tip of the iceberg of our friendship the past few years! So grateful to have so many memories with Darby and even more since quarantine 2020 had us spending a lot more time together as we are roomies and were in lockdown haha It’s been a wild ride and I’m so grateful to have Darbies love and support as I have been chasing my Dream Catcher adventure and to have her cheering me along all the way. These past few months of us living together have thrown quite a few twists and turns along the way and some big changes coming into both of our lives which involves us both moving – in opposite directions – to be with our families. I know without a doubt that I would not have been able to get through the tough times if it wasn’t for her love and encouragement and I know that as the times change and her big move to Dallas Texas comes up, it’s only going to fuel the Dreams that Darby has in her back pocket. A soul of wildfire and wanderlust I can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes her and am so thankful to be inspired by her lust for travel and seeing the world

Beth is an absolutely amazing soul and I am incredibly grateful to know her and get to call her a friend! She is insanely talented in everything she does and is the true definition of a Dream Catcher. Beth decided to take a leap of faith and leave her 9 to 5 job to dive into pursuing her passion of photography and all things creative full time! Its so amazing to watch her living out her dreams and absolutely killing it as she does. She is also such a beautiful soul and its been so much fun being able to connect over some amazing adventures. Beth is pretty much and honorary 4th McMillan sister as she travelled with our family to Cabo to photograph my sisters wedding which was a blast! We then took a girls trip to Phoenix Arizona where Beth took the most amazing photos of me in the desert for Dream Catcher. Her pictures are the ones that have changed my life and perspective on my own self love journey and a piece of her artistry will be with Dream Catcher forever as we used one of her photos for the album art. I am just so incredibly excited to see the beautiful magic that this girl makes and what adventures life takes her on next!

I honestly just say this beautiful girls name and already my day is a million times better! I am so grateful for her and our friendship. From New Moon Parties, to coffee dates, shooting music videos and even spending Christmas day together I am just so thankful for all our memories made thus far. Raihanna is not only an amazing friend but an incredible singer songwriter who brings light to every stage she stands on. She shines so bright and it amazing to get to connect with her energy as her music speaks truth and love inn every word she writes. I absolutely LOVE her song Cinderella that inspires listeners to keep chasing their dreams and giving all they got to make it happen. She is also gearing up to release a brand new single called “June” which is another one of my favorites! Nothing makes me happier than to be able to experience such a beautiful friendship with someone who has the same passion for music and to be able to cheer eachother on along the way

She is a world traveler, music teacher, square brownie pan chef extraordinaire, a meditator, hiker, beautiful wife and mama and I am so incredibly grateful to be inspired by her every day! I met Lauren down in Nashville at CMA Fest almost exactly 7 years ago and we’ve kept in touch mainly through social media passing on words of encouragement as the years have gone by. Even just by glancing at her Instagram you can see that Lauren shows up every day to inspire and encourage those around her. A music lover and teacher to children, she has turned her passion into a full time dream of lighting up the dream for so many kids to pursue music at a young age. We recently interviewed Lauren for our Dream Catcher Podcast and it was such an honor to be able to sit down and listen to her enthusiasm for life sparkle in every word she speaks! I am so excited to continue to watch and connect with Lauren and see where the adventure of her life takes her next

Beautiful, Fun, Loving, Adventurous … just a few of the words that describe this amazing soul that I have had the honor of being friends with for the past 6 years. Lisa and I were introduced by a beautiful mutual friend and I had mentioned that I was heading up to Canada in a month to play shows. Without hesitation Lisa asked if she could come up with me as she had always wanted to visit the Rocky Mountains and I said “Absolutely”. We barely knew each other for a month when we flew to Alberta together and had the most amazing road trip through the mountains where we made a bed in the back of the truck and lived like gypsys for a few days. Over the years there have been so many journeys and memories made and her stunning smile always comes into my mind when I need a boost of encouragement. Lisa is such a thoughtful soul and started her own Fair Trade store helping Artisans from all over the world called The Mustard Seed Marketplace. I cannot say enough about her heart and the LOVE she constantly radiates to everyone around her. I know that she is on a Divine journey here to change the world one smile at a time and I am so blessed that I get to witness and encourage it along the way!

Lindsay Lawler

I wouldn’t be in Nashville Tennessee living out my dream if it wasn’t for this girl! At least not at this full potential. I came to Nashville for the first time with my mom about 10 years ago and one of the nights while we were out dancing to some live bands the lead singer pulled me up to sing some tunes with her. At the end of the show she grabbed one of her CDs and wrote on it “Mandy Move Here”. Seeing that was the first time I thought that I could actually move to Nashville to pursue music. Fast forward a few years later, after I got my US work visa I ran into Lindsay on lower broadway and reintroduced myself then fast forward 8 years later and I am forever grateful for her support and loving friendship. We’ve made some amazing memories and I’ve had the honor of watching and learning from a girl who has shown what true dedication is as she is the “Highway Angel” supporting truckers across America and their amazing stories. She also manages the beautiful Nashville Music Loft which hosts the best parties and some of the Music Industries finest have performed there! Lindsay has a passion within her to conquer anything that comes her way and she is the most generous person I have ever met. All in all, I love this girl to pieces and wish that I could tell you all our crazy stories but what happens in New Orleans stays in New Orleans haha
